Bradley Dance Team Camp
Kids will learn from the Bradley Dance Team 9:00AM-11:00AM and then get to perform at the 5:00 basketball game. It's $30 per child and the money goes to supporting the Bradley Dance Team. Inexpensive tickets for the family are available if your child participates.
Save the Date: May 8, 2020 is Holy Family School's Celebration of the Arts
It's the dance recital you know and love in collaboration with the visual arts and musical arts held at Holy Family School at 1:00 and 6:00.
Opportunities to volunteer to make the event a success will be discussed at the November PTO meeting. Please speak to Mrs. Fegley if you are able to volunteer and can't attend the November meeting. I am currently looking for a backstage director to make sure kids are lined up and ready to go before opening the curtains. I am also looking for costume parents for many grades. (Fourth grade, sixth grade, and eighth grade have a costume parent lined up already.)
Opportunities to see Dance
One of my absolute favorite professional dance companies is The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. They tour through Chicago every year. I know it's hard to get up there and it's not cheep, but I wanted to share because Revelations is one of the most beautiful, Christian works that I have ever seen. Every time I've seen it, I've felt a renewed faith and excitement. Students in all classes will learn a piece of Revelations in a mini unit this January. Ailey will be in Chicago performing Revelations and other dance works March 4-8, 2020.
Here's the link to the Auditorium Theater which will present Alvin Ailey as well as the Joffrey Ballet (One of the top five American ballet companies) season and a few other dance shows that look wonderful.
I also teach at Peoria Ballet and consider it my "ballet family." We are planning a field trip for the whole school to see The Nutcracker this year on Thursday, December 12, 2019. It will once again be performed with the Heartland Symphony Orchestra with the Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier performed by stars of the Joffrey Ballet. Please let your child's teacher know if you are interested in chaperoning.
The spring show will be Cinderella at Five Points on May 1 and May 2, 2020.
Many wonderful summer camps are being planned for the summer of 2020. I will be teaching tutu camp June 22-24 (ages6-9) and Princess Camp June 15-19 (ages 4-6).
Central Illinois Ballet also produces shows throughout the year. I took my daughters to see their version of the Nutcracker in December 2018 and it was lovely.
In December, my parents invited me to a production called This Moment in Time produced by Northwoods Church in Peoria. I was told that they do this every year, and I will definitely try to go next year. You must get tickets to have a reservation, but there is no cost. It was a dance and music celebration of the birth of our lord complete with a drum corps descending from the catwalks and aerial dance. The dancers in this production were beautiful, and I love family outings that focus on the real meaning of Christmas!
